DEA Seized Enough Fentanyl to Kill the entire US
Recently the DEA seized 50 million pills that look identical to popular prescriptions such as Xanax, Percocet, and OxyContin and 10,000 pounds of fentanyl powder—combined, that is enough for 379 million fatal doses. Currently, there are 333 million people in the United States, and it’s a scary crisis facing our country today.

Short Bursts of Energy
A recent study posted by the Journal of Nature Medicine suggests that short bursts of intense exercise, the kind that leaves you gasping for air, is associated with a lower risk of premature death. The researchers studied 25,000 people in the UK who wore wrist devices to track movement. The results showed that just one to two minutes of vigorous activity three to four times a day was associated with a 40% lower risk of death. These activities include climbing a flight of stairs, running for the bus, or carrying heavy groceries. The risk of dying from heart disease was reduced even further, up to 49%. So get moving; it can improve your health significantly.

Use More of your Muscles
Strengthening your muscles is a great way to boost your health. There are more than 600 muscles in the human body, and it is next to impossible to strengthen each one. It doesn’t have to be a daunting endeavor. Commit to two and a half hours of muscle training two or more days a week to optimize health. This kind of training is essential to the wellness of older people whose muscles atrophy with age. Unfortunately, more than 80% of adults are not meeting the federal government’s guidelines for muscle strengthening. Try incorporating some new strength training exercises into your routine to combat aging. Planks, squats, bicep lifts, tricep dips, and calve workouts are easy to work in and can drastically improve your health.

Eat More Protein
After years of vilifying red meats, eggs, and cheese and pushing a plant-based diet, nutritionists recommend more protein for optimal health. Many studies have concluded that a high-protein diet has significant health benefits for slimming down and increasing metabolic health. Protein reduces hunger and boosts a hormone that can make you feel full. One study concluded that increasing protein intake from 15% to 30% made participants eat 441 fewer calories daily. If you a looking to lose belly fat, consider replacing some of your carb intake with protein. An increase in protein in your diet also has been found to lead to better bone health. It also boosts metabolism and increases fat burning. It is also linked to lower blood pressure and helps to maintain weight loss. It also allows you to stay fit as you age. So pack on a little more protein to your daily meal plan.

Vaping Leads to Cavities
A recent study by the American Dental Association showed that vape pen users are more likely to develop cavities than those who abstain from the wildly popular new habit. Many who vape choose flavored varieties with added sugars that coat the teeth leading to tooth decay. With a record number of young people using these devices, it’s disturbing to figure out the long-term implications of using them over time.
