STRIPLV DINING

Frank and Fina’s
By Vegas Food Nerd

I’ve been a customer of Frank and Fina’s for over six years now, and in those six years, they have never disappointed me. The consistency of the food and service is impeccable. Tucked away in a strip mall located just outside of Summerlin behind the McDonald’s, this family-owned gem is our go-to spot for Mexican family dining, and south of the border treats.

Owners Francisco and Josefina Pacheco—working with their kids, Adrian and Pricilla—have been serving solid Mexican fare in the Las Vegas since the ’90s. It shifted out to the southwest suburbs from Charleston Boulevard around 2005, maintaining its delectable food and faithful customer base.

When first walking into this unassuming place, the first thing that will strike you is the warm family feel to it. You’re always seated immediately even when the restaurant is bustling, and the attention to service is more on point than many Las Vegas striplv five-star restaurants that I’ve dined at with their pretty servers more worried about how they look than how good they are serving you.

As soon as we were seated, hot chips and their much-heralded salsa were delivered to our table. The chips are crisp, hot, salty, and the salsa is always perfect. I am a sucker for chile relleno, so we started with a couple of orders that were served almost immediately, piping hot and perfect alongside our margaritas on the rocks, which had the perfect amount of salt on the rim. The chile relleno were pure perfection on the plate, with the right amount of spice and divine cheeses—they didn’t last long with our party of five. I venture to say it’s the best chile relleno that I’ve sampled anywhere in the United States or Mexico. After that, we ordered chicken enchilada suizas, cochinita pibil and a couple orders of their street tacos, mixing it up between chicken, beef and pork. The enchilada’s arrived steaming hot, served with rice, beans and a small salad. The sauce and chicken were excellent. The cochinta pibil was tender and flavorful with just the right amount of spice and heat, and the street tacos didn’t disappoint either, taking my taste buds back to the streets of Tijuana. All this fantastic hot food with excellent service at reasonable prices should make Frank and Fina’s your Mexican restaurant of choice in Las Vegas.
