HIS GALLERY AT MANDALAY PLACE IS A MUST-SEE
BY JACK WELLINGTON

Breathtakingly beautiful, the serene landscapes of Peter Lik Photography can be experienced in the world-famous photographer’s gallery inside the heart of The Shoppes at Mandalay Place.  Featuring 55 of Lik’s world-famous photographs, including “Pele’s Whisper,” which is Lik’s most-awarded shot, “Sacred Sunrise” and “Eternal Beauty”, Lik Mandalay is magnificent.  Spread across a sprawling 3,266 square feet, the gallery is a total sensory experience.

A master photographer membered in both the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) and the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Peter Lik has been awarded fellowships by the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) and The Royal Photographic Society (RPS).  Selling in excess of $300 million of fine art photography, his Las Vegas based company, LIK USA, has 16 galleries, with celebrities, and even presidents, among his many collectors.

After a chance meeting in Alaska with fellow photographer Allen Prier, the self-taught Lik was faced with a defining moment in his life, as Prier introduced the medium format panoramic camera to young Lik in ’84.

Prier’s advice?

“GO BIG, OR GO HOME.”

Lik went big, alright!  First returning to his native land of Australia, Lik shot the vastness of the Great South Land, then returned to The States in ’89 and undertook what would become Lik’s “biggest challenge” of his life.  50 states of photos later, and unveiled in the early part of the new millennium, this would be Peter’s American odyssey, which can be found in his book “Spirit of America”.

Lik’s famous photograph taken on the banks of the Androscoggin River in New Hampshire entitled “One” sold for $1 million.  Included in an exhibition of Nature’s Best Photography in the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C., is Lik’s classic image “Ghost”, as well as his almost supernatural tree photograph that seems to emit the essence of life and spirituality, entitled, “Inner Peace”.

Recently received the coveted “Lifetime Achievment” award from Professional Photographers of America, making the renowned photographer ever implanted in history as one of the world’s best photographers.
